British Values
Being part of Britain
As a school, we value and celebrate the diverse heritages and cultures of everybody at Hucklow. Alongside this, we value and celebrate being part of Britain. We celebrate traditions, such as Harvest festival, Easter celebrations, Eid Parties and Christmas nativities and celebrations. We also value and celebrate national events, for example Remembrance Day.
Children at Hucklow, learn about being part of Britain from different perspectives. We learn about Britain- its capital cities, counties, rivers, mountains and where Britain is in relation to the rest of Europe and other countries in the world.
Children explore how Britain has changed over the years through exciting themes and projects.
In accordance with The Department for Education we aim to actively promote British values to ensure all our children leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. Children regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is “right” and “wrong”, all people living in England are subject to its law.
At Hucklow, our values of Respect, Team work, Aim High, Independence, Care and Self Belief underpin all that we do and are interwoven within the DfE’s definition of fundamental British Values. Our PSHE and RE Curriculum provide explicit teaching of fundamental British values every year. Additional planned opportunities provide children with lived experiences of these values—click the tab below for more information on this.
“Everyone is different at Hucklow, we believe in different things and come from different places but what makes us the same is that we come to Hucklow”
